Apple TV

Designed to provide the missing link between the media files in your iTunes library and today's modern televisions (and their accompanying audio-visual components), the Apple TV nicely simplifies the occasionally daunting process of viewing computer-based content on a television. While limited in significant ways, the Apple TV is a solid first step in what I hope is a long line of increasingly capable Apple-branded AV peripherals.

Inside and out

About the size of a personal-size pizza (7.75 inches square, and just over an inch tall), the Apple TV ships with the bare necessities. Inside the box you'll find the unit itself, an Apple Remote (the same one that ships with many of Apple's computers), a power cable (with no power brick, thanks to the device's internal power supply), and some documentation.

Former circuit clerk removed from office, given probation

To counter the argument, state's attorney Brandon Ogburn called President of the Adams County Board of Supervisors, Darryl Grennell to testify.

Grennell said in his testimony that on May 21, 2007, Vines was called before the Adams County Board of Supervisors and told that the auditing firm needed his records to complete the Adams County audit.

Vines at that time, Grennell said, told the board he would comply with their request.

However Vines' records were not received until Nov. 9.

And the board, Grennell said, has still never seen any of Vines' records.

Webster said his original order that said Vines must comply with all requests of the state auditor's office did not leave much room for error.

Webster said he was surprised by Vines' reluctance to cooperate with auditor's office when he said he thought Vines would have “jumped through hoops to get this done."

Details of the programs are available at www.curingkidscancer.org.

The Many Faces of Big Pharma’s Disease Mongering

Most people blame Big Pharma and the docs in its pocket for elevating everyday anxiety to depression, depression to bipolar disease and childhood behavior problems to major psychiatric diseases.

But there are others to thank for the national pathology of creating and treating diseases that aren't even there.

There's the 200 US medical education and communication companies (MECCs) who ghostwrite journal articles for Big Pharma–"just sign here, Doc; we've reviewed the data"–for $20,000 to $40,000 per article.

Like Complete Healthcare Communications (CHC) whose phalanx of 40 medical writers, editors and librarians has submitted over 500 manuscripts to journals for clients Pfizer, Sanofi-Aventis, Wyeth, Schering-Plough and AstraZeneca according to its promotional materials, with an acceptance rate of 80 percent.

ok- i havent been following the whole brit saga all that close so im ...

I think she is either bipolar or Schizophrenic. She has all the symptoms of schizophrenia from what I see and bipolar. If she does sadly have one of these I hope it is not Schizophrenia as her career would most likely be finished. My brother is Schizophrenic and it is VERY hard on him and our entire family and this is how it started with him. Bizzare behavior and us thinking he was on drugs. They actually LOOK like they are on drugs when they are in certain stages.

Filing up for fitness

The new Fall River Fitness Challenge got off to a kicking start on Saturday when folks of all shapes and sizes pledged to lose weight and help the city shed 2,000 pounds by May 5. By 9 a.m., they were lined up outside Community Development Recreation at 72 Bank St. And, until noon, people poured in ready to give their names and get weighed in — all in the name of health and perhaps a little healthy competition. "I'm sick of being fat," said Carlene Beckius, who wants to lose 29 pounds. "I'm sick of struggling with my clothes." Beckius was one of about 150 people to sign up for the challenge in the first two hours of registration. Ten or more teams of people from various organizations have also signed up. The Fall River Fitness Challenge was devised by CD REC, the Diabetes Association, the Thomas Chew Memorial Boys & Girls Club and Healthy City Fall River.

We need everyone to talk to kids about the many reasons to not use tobacco. If you do know a young person who is using tobacco then please let them know that there is funding out there available to their school to hold smoking-cessation classes. They can kick the habit. Some of the students who have taken these classes in Cerro Gordo County have then turned around and helped their parents quit.We need your help in making Cerro Gordo County a healthier place to live in.Please talk to your kids. And thank you for not smoking.Choose the best candidateBy ROSALIE BOOZELL, Mason CityAs a woman, I would like to respond to a recent letter to the editor which urged all women to vote for Hillary Clinton "because she is a woman."I, as a woman, choose to vote for the person, not for the gender. Is Hillary the best candidate for president? That is the question we should ask and that is the only standard we should consider when casting our vote. The writer asks rhetorically, what are we teaching our young girls (if we don’t teach them to vote for Hillary)? My answer would be, we should be teaching them to think for themselves.
